Hey Heying

This parenting thing is hard to figure out. I feel like I find out one "trick" one day and then it doesn't work the next day. However, there are some things I have finally figured out about my adorable (almost) three-month-old baby:

1. It's hard for her to sleep during the day. If she goes a long period without sleeping, it'll just get harder and harder or her to fall asleep.
2. She sleeps well during the day in someone's lap, in her stroller in a loud place or on her stomach (but that's not allowed!).
3. Toys stress her out. She can only have so much of them (about five or ten minutes) before she breaks down and cries.
4. She loooves it when people talk to her, even more if you sing to her, she likes kicking her legs and "hey heying" (see vĂdeo below).

Threesome

Baby Addie and I made this sign for her daddy last weekend. He went to Spain for a few days and we missed him terribly. Our little home was just not complete without that very important man coming home at the end of the day. I'm so glad he's back and we are back to enjoying our party of three.

Chubbiness = happiness

I think I have this thing for chubby babies. I pinned this adorable little thing on Pinterest a year ago:

And now I have a butterball of my own! Her chubbiness makes me happy for some reason. I love holding her chubby little body and feeling her really soft skin. And making her smile, of course.

She's two months old and I dare you to say there is a cuter baby out there. I won't believe it. I've made many mistakes in these two months, and I keep on learning through trial and error. I don't believe there is any science to caring for a little human... it's complicated! I still haven't figured it out and I still worry when I think I might not be doing the best thing for her.

But then I take a deep breath and remember she's God's child before she's ours and how lucky I am to have this task of caring for and singing "The itsy bitsy spider" to this adorable chubby creature.

Family trip

We went on our first family trip last weekend to meet some of my husband's friends from college. Traveling with our baby is like traveling with a celebrity... people ooh and aah wherever you go. She's beginning to smile quite a bit so she charms everyone. We went to the beach and she just mostly slept in a tent. We stayed at a really great bed and breakfast that had a patio with a hammock... where she also just mainly slept. It also had really great breakfast. Here are some pictures...
